Frequently asked questions

How does PDF compression work?

We recompress and downscale the images embedded in your PDF, then clean up the file structure. Text stays sharp and selectable.

Do I need to create an account to compress a PDF?

No. Just upload your file and download the smaller result.

How much does it cost to compress a PDF?

Your first file each day is free, no account needed. After that, it's $0.60, or $1/month for unlimited if you subscribe.

Is my file safe?

Yes. Your file is processed automatically and deleted from our servers within one hour. We never share or store your documents.

How much smaller will my file get?

It depends on the PDF. Scanned or image-heavy PDFs often shrink by 80–95%; text-only PDFs with no images shrink much less since there's little left to compress.

Will compression reduce image quality?

Images are resized and recompressed, so very close zoom may show some softness. For normal viewing and printing, the difference is usually not noticeable.

Can I compress a password-protected PDF?

Not directly — remove the password first using our Protect/Unlock tool, then compress.
